Montreal, September 17th 2014 – Rael, spiritual leader of the International Raelian Movement, (www.rael.org) announced this year that humanity only has a 1% chance of survival.
In the same breath, however, he offered a solution and said “If everyone on Earth dedicated only one minute a day of their time to meditate for peace and love, then we could change the world.”
Spokesperson for the Canadian Raelian Movement, Nathalie Melove Bibens, said: “Raelians are launching this One Minute For Peace Meditation around the planet. We know it can make a difference. Scientific data supports this and we know that everyone would happily give just one minute of their day to help the planet change toward peace.”
The Canadian Raelians say that by simply concentrating on peace for one minute is all that is needed and that people from all walks of life can participate regardless of their religious or political affiliation. “Peace is something every person wants deep inside”, Melove said, adding “It would increase the chances of success if more celebrities around the world would participate since they have the power to influence the masses, and most of all, political leaders who have a responsibility to use their power to avoid war.
Any country can go to war but the measure of a society is found in its ability to avoid war.
Raelians say that if the money spent on war was invested instead in helping humanity that war would all but disappear.
Melove continued: “Surely it is clear to everyone that our humanity is at a crucial turning point. Our chances of survival are extremely low and the risks that our humanity will disappear from a nuclear war outbreak are higher than ever!” She added: “There are dozens of wars happening on Earth at this moment and the chances of one of these conflicts using a nuclear weapon are increasing. The United States, Russia and China alone have thousands of nuclear warheads, enough to eradicate all forms of life on Earth many times over. Yet, despite that, each year nearly 1.8 trillion USD ($1,747 billion in 2014) are wasted globally on military budgets. In Canada, over 25 billion dollars are spent each year for that same purpose, which is a substantial percentage of its total budget.”
Think (meditate) about that
Melove concluded: “Raelians wholeheartedly invite all those who cherish peace deep in their hearts to join them on Sunday, September 21st , to meditate for peace.”
The “One Minute for Peace” project was initiated by RAEL in July 2012.
