On September 20th, the Raelians from Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver participated in the “International Weekend of Peace”, by supporting the campaigns “One Minute for Peace Meditation” and “No More Armies”, both launched by Rael.

Various actions were organized: Over 150 people from across Quebec rallied to a large peaceful march in downtown Montreal. The march took place with several meditations throughout its course, and was very well received by the considerable downtown population which was literally mesmerized during the meditations, and many people joined the march spontaneously. The march ended in front of the Place des Arts, with a few speeches. “The unleashed Grannies” offered a few songs of peace. A very touching speech was delivered by an indigenous representative, Wakkoyolha who is already an activist for world peace. The event was wrapped up with a “One Minute for Peace Meditation”.

During these 4 events, a significant number of signatures were collected for the “No More Armies” campaign in support of Bill C-272 on non complicity with wars.

For over 40 years, Raelians have made themselves advocates of non-violent and peaceful activities, as Rael, their spiritual leader, teaches. Stéphane Salois, the coordinator for the peaceful gatherings in Canada, explains : “Only non-violence, love and compassion can save humanity. What we think, what we express, and what we feel influence everything on Earth. By sending waves of peace and love through the powerful transmitter that our brain is, we have the power to pacify this planet”. He concludes : “We can therefore all, each one of us, become important players for the survival of our humanity. So this is an invitation, don’t miss our upcoming events”.
